9-11 tribute at fire chiefs convention
ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Thousands of firefighters are in Oneida County this week for the annual Association of Fire Chiefs convention at the Turning Stone. Among the topics Thursday was the World Trade Center attacks and a special tribute to 9-11.

Six people who either lost a family member or were a rescue worker shared their stories with the crowd. Organizers say the performance is to keep the memory alive but also remind people what hatred and intolerance did.

"We would hate to have history repeat itself and complacency has set in already and unfortunately, there's a good likelihood that history will repeat itself," said Lee Ielpi, 9-11 Families’ Association President.

All the money raised from the performance goes back to the World Trade Center tribute center.

The firefighter convention runs through Sunday.
