There is a proposal on the table in Cayuga County which could result in a 40 mile pipeline full of alternative fuel. It would be provided by the area's numerous farmers. CAYUGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- An organization in Cayuga County is looking to install a 40 mile pipeline throughout the county to harness bio-gas.

The Cayuga County Public Utility Service Agency wants to create this pipeline to collect bio-gas created by local farmers and turn it into a renewable resource for the county.

Dairy farmers in the area are being asked to invest between $3 and $5 million in bio-digesters that would create green energy from their manure. Many government organizations are interested in this project and grant funding would be available. But some of the farmers say they are having trouble applying for such funding.

County leaders are looking into doing a technical study to determine whether or not this project is actually feasible.
