ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Police in Liverpool are investigating the theft of more than $7,000 from the Liverpool First United Methodist Church.
The Director of Communications for the church said the money was taken after the last service on Sunday morning, which took place around 11 a.m. He said the money, which totaled $7,200, was from donations during the service and most of it was in check form.
The church is now taking steps to notify those whose checks were stolen.
