SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Big East head coaches give Syracuse's Fab Melo and Dion Waiters some big honors.

The league named Melo the Big East 'Defensive Player of the Year.' He led the conference in blocked shots in league play, averaging 3.7 per game. And with an average of 6 rebounds per game, he has helped the Orange come out on top in each game he played in.

Dion Waiters also received the sixth man award. Off the bench, he has become the team's second leading scorer, averaging around 12 points a game. He also leads the team in steals with an average of two per game.

Once the Big East tournament begins Tuesday, we will find out the remaining four individual Big East honors, including Player and Coach of the Year awards.
