ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The FBI confirmed that a suspicious package delivered to an Oneida County MetLife office building was a hoax.
Whitestown Police received a call Wednesday that the office on Airport Road in Oriskany received an envelope with a suspicious white powder in it. The letter did not have a return address, and it was not addressed to any particular person at the building.
A hazmat crew removed the letter after the building was evacuated and took it away for testing. Workers were allowed back inside the office after about an hour.
The FBI has not said what the substance was, but that it was in fact a hoax. They are still investigating.
