ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- For the past few months, the only political race making headlines has been the race for President.
But Saturday, about 250 Onondaga County republicans got together to endorse the candidates that will be running in local elections this fall.
Familiar names like Congresswoman Buerkle and Senator John Defrancisco received unanimous endorsements from the Onondaga County GOP. They also voted to back Thomas Miller for County Court Judge, Sandra Shepp for County Clerk, and Don Miller, Gary Finch and William Barclay for the assembly.
Party Chairman Tom Dadey said they have a strong, consistent message that he believes will put Republicans in office in November.
Dadey said, “We're against wasteful spending in government. We want to do something to deal with the honorous tax burden in this state and on the federal level. We just have a message that resonates well with the average voter, and that's what we need to appeal to in November to make sure that our candidates win."
Republican voters have three primaries to pay attention to this year. The Presidential primary is April 24th. The Federal primary is June 26th. And a primary for local offices will be in September, but that date has yet to be determined.
