UTICA, N.Y. -- Police have made an arrest in a fight at Utica's Proctor High School that left one student in the hospital. The fight happened Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the two students are members of the track team and were in the cafeteria for a team meeting. The two have had previous altercations and exchanged words. That's when police say Hassan Lacy, 17, punched the victim, knocking him to the floor.

The teen was knocked unconscious and police say Lacy continued to hit him until other teammates pulled him off.

The victim remains hospitalized with several fractures to the face and bleeding in the brain.

Lacy has been charged with assault and disorderly conduct.
