BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- An early morning fire destroyed a home in Chenango Forks.
Crews were called to 520 Mix Road around 7:30 a.m. Thursday and found heavy smoke and flames.
Five fire departments responded to the scene and got the flames under control in about an hour.
Officials say no one was hurt in the fire, but the home is destroyed.
"This house was built in the 1800s and it is a total loss, there was heavy fire involvement. They did call for second alarm immediately and they pulled some units from third alarm as well, but this is a total loss, there was just too much fire," Broome County Fire Coordinator Brett Chellis said.
The Red Cross is assisting the family who lived in the home.
Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire.
