ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- Some of the charges against a North Country man accused of digging up land at the former GM plant in Massena have been dismissed.
Earlier this week, a Saint Lawrence County judge dismissed two of the three charges against Larry Thompson, 57.
Authorities said Thompson, a member of the Onkehonwe Signatory Tribe, dug up the land with an excavator and dropped contaminated soil at the feet of New York State Troopers in August.
In dropping charges of resisting arrest and reckless endangerment, the judge ruled Thompson didn't resist and that prosecutors didn't prove the soil presented a danger.
Thompson still faces a criminal mischief charge.
