STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. -- The budget for the Corning-Painted Post School District gained unanimous approval Wednesday night from the school board. The $87.6 million spending plan includes a tax levy increase of 1.78 percent.
The budget also calls for a staff reduction of 105 positions. That number is actually down from the original proposal of 250 cuts. The change was due in large part to the $5 million plus grant given to the district by Corning Inc.
The public votes on the budget on May 15th.
