YNN and other Syracuse television stations are teaming up to bring awareness to the sexual, verbal, and physical abuse of children. We will be airing a one hour special at 7 p.m. called ‘Protecting Our Children.’ The special was put together in conjunction with the McMahon-Ryan Child Advocacy Center, which helps kids affected by abuse. Our Brad Vivacqua has the details from the WCNY headquarters.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – ‘Protecting Our Children’ comes in response to the child abuse issue making both national and local news headlines in the last few months. April is also Child Abuse Prevention month.

The one hour television special will run at 7 p.m. Wednesday on YNN along with WSYR, WSTM, WTVH, CW-6, and FOX 68. It will air on WCNY at 6 p.m.

This is the first time in 15 years Syracuse stations are coming together to produce a one hour commercial free special on child abuse.

Volunteers from the Onondaga County Child Abuse Response Team are at WCNY to answer any questions that you may have related to child abuse.

The phone bank is open until 9 a.m. and then will re-open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The toll free number is 1-877-880-52-11.
