ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- An inmate at the Onondaga County Justice Center is charged with assault after allegedly attacking staff members. The sheriff's office says Bennie Jackson, 23, attacked two deputies Wednesday morning at the Onondaga County Justice Center.
Authorities say the attack happened when Jackson was being brought back to his cell after he was caught smoking in a recreation yard. Both deputies were treated at Upstate University Hospital for minor injuries.
Jackson is charged with assault and promoting prison contraband.
