ST. JOHN'S, Newfoundland - After two one-goal games to open the Eastern Conference quarterfinals, St. John's routed Syracuse 5-1 in Game 3 on Wednesday to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-5 series.

The IceCaps scored two goals on power plays out of four chances while the Crunch went 0 for 3.

Syracuse now needs to win both of the remaining games to advance in the playoffs. Game 4 is Friday night.
