Governor Cuomo has announced the members of the New York Works Task Force on Thursday, formed to coordinate and oversee infrastructure projects around the state. Our Zack Fink has more.

NEW YORK STATE -- Right now, 45 separate state authorities and agencies oversee their own capital projects, including road and bridge construction.

"The current situation is wasteful and bizarre. This silo form of organization of government where every government agency operates like it’s the only government agency in the state," said Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The governor and legislative leaders have put together a 13 member task force to improve communications among agencies. The members include Robert Yaro of the Regional Plan Association and Felix Rohatyn, who is credited with helping to save the city from bankruptcy in the 1970s and was an advisor to former Governor Mario Cuomo as well.

During the announcement, members of the task force and even the governor himself made comparisons to the era of former governor Al Smith, who coordinated closely with Robert Moses. Moses, who did a lot of the great building in an around New York City, but he was also a highly controversial figure.

"The point of Al Smith and his ability to manage the government just on this point I thought was profound. Because in many ways, that is public enemy number one. The mismanagement, the atrophy of government."

New York State has already opened up several projects for bidding. They include improvements on the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx and the Prospect Expressway in Brooklyn.
