WHEELER, N.Y. -- A young child is found dead after drowning in a pond in Steuben County.

State Police said a 4-year-old Amish boy, who did not know how to swim, drowned in a pond at a family farm in the Town of Wheeler. It happened around 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Officials believe that even before emergency crews were called to the Stryker Road farm, the boy had already died.

An investigation is on-going, but as of right now, the incident is being treated as an unattended death.
