ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Sheriff's deputies say a driver was clocked going 71 miles an hour on the Onondaga Lake Parkway, but when a deputy moved in to stop him, he began driving evasively. The speeds then reached 85 miles an hour when the car entered Route 81 south.

The car left the highway on Franklin Street with the deputy still in pursuit when the driver ran a red light and struck another car. But, the chase did not end there.

“Proceeded to take the driver into custody when he started to struggle. The deputy had to deploy his Taser. Upon deploying the Taser, he was successful in handcuffing the subject. He immediately went over to the driver of the other vehicle to assess his condition. And, while he did that, the subject proceeded to get up and fled,” said Sgt. John D'Eredita, Onondaga County Sheriff's Department.

The suspect ran into Franklin Square where he was finally grabbed by Syracuse Police. Authorities have not yet released his identity. He is facing several charges.
