It's going to be a special weekend on the Syracuse University campus for thousands of graduates. This weekend marks S.U.'s 158th commencement. Our Brad Vivacqua reports from outside the Carrier Dome, where a number of events will take place.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- It takes a lot of hard work to earn a degree, and graduating students deserve a lot of credit for what they've accomplished.

If you're heading to the S.U. hill on Sunday, commencement will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the Carrier Dome gates will open at 8 a.m. Shuttle buses will be available to transport guests to the Dome from South Campus and Manley Field House.

S.U.'s College of Law will hold its commencement ceremony today in the Dome as 184 law students receive their degrees.

Today and tomorrow, a number of convocations and receptions will be held on campus and commencement will take place Sunday. More than 5,600 students will receive degrees, which includes both S.U. and SUNY ESF.

"Didn't envision myself here a couple years ago, and it was a lot of work. And, a lot of things that I didn't know coming in that I learned in my four years here and I'm excited to move on to the next stage in life and put some of those things I learned into the real world," said Greg Davidson, SU Class of 2012.

"It's great to have this family and kind of these people who that for the rest of our lives we've shared this experience, and we'll be able to take that further into the workplace and be able to work with these people and their colleagues and our co-workers and our friends," said Laura Beachy, SU Class of 2012 Undergraduate Scholar.

It's going to be a very exciting weekend for thousands of graduates on the S.U. hill. This year's commencement speaker will be award winning screenwriter and producer Aaron Sorkin, who is a 1983 S.U. graduate.

Of course, it's also going to be an extra special day for S.U. mothers as commencement lands on Mother's Day.
