GENESEE COUNTY, N.Y. -- A popular Western New York theme park is now open for the season with some new attractions.

Darien Lake theme park opened its gates for the 2012 season Saturday. This year, the park unveiled some new additions, including the new "Rowdy's Ridge" family area which features the new ride "Moose on the Loose." These rides are part of a $5 million attempt by the park to be more family-friendly.

Bob Montgomery, General Manager said, “We've also made a significant investment in our accommodations. We spent a million dollars there, adding more cabins, making significant changes to the hotel in particular, upgrading the services we offer there. Even in the food area, we've added Tim Horton's. "

Darien Lake will be open through October.
