Fire destroys Pompey home

POMPEY, N.Y. -- A home was destroyed by a fire in the Town of Pompey. Firefighters first arrived to a fully engulfed home on Kassonta Drive just after 5:30 a.m.

A neighbor says she heard a ‘pop’ sound, and then looked out the window to find the garage on fire. She says the four people who live in the home got out safely.

"Everybody is in shock, complete shock right now. So we're just trying to do comfort care at this point. They've lost all of their clothes, their possessions, the keys to their vehicles. You can only imagine how someone would feel that all of a sudden they're pulled from everything that this comfort to them," said Ellen Albanese, a neighbor.

Numerous fire departments responded to the fire. The cause is still under investigation.
