POTSDAM, N.Y. -- It looked like a scene from Santa's workshop as the Potsdam Holiday Fund distributed more than 1,600 gifts Friday.
The Holiday Fund has been collecting donations from local residents and businesses since October. The presents will go to about 550 kids from Potsdam and the surrounding towns.
Parents are able to go and pick out gifts they think their children will like.
"It's all locally funded. It's all volunteer. Our costs to raise a dollar is less than five cents. The Potsdam community is just amazing," said Pam Yurgartis, President of the Potsdam Holiday Fund.
The Potsdam Holiday Fund will be distributing Christmas dinners to about 600 residents next week.
