OGDENSBURG, N.Y. -- A Sunday morning fire has knocked two North Country radio stations off the air. 96.7 YES FM and PAC 98.7 both stopped transmitting after a bolt of lightning hit their tower in Ogdensburg.
No injuries were reported, but both transmitters were destroyed. Work has begun to get the stations back on the air.
Station managers don't know when they will be broadcasting again. With understanding from their advertisers, they are hoping business will not be majorly impacted.
"To our listeners, we certainly want to apologize for not having the programming there that they expect to have, but best believe we are working on it as quickly as we can," said John Winter, the station's general manager.
Both stations do offer free web streams of their programs.
