The SU men’s basketball team is getting ready for its quarterfinal Big East Tournament matchup with Pittsburgh at Madison Square Garden on Thursday. The Orange will take on the Panthers at 2 p.m. YNN’s Brad Vivacqua has more from New York City.
NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -- After a successful day on Wednesday, the SU men’s basketball team and Orange fans are hoping for more success Thursday as they take on the Pittsburgh Panthers in the Big Apple.
We caught up with fans on Wednesday following SU’s 75 to 63 win over Seton Hall at Madison Square Garden. Fans came out of the Garden excited and many we spoke with are thrilled to be in the Big Apple for the Orange’s final Big East Tournament.
The SU faithful know that the Orange will have to be on top of their game if they’d like to beat the Pittsburgh Panthers, a team that knocked Syracuse off by 10 a little more than a month ago.
“I’m hoping they do very good. Pittsburgh’s a very good team, they run and gun a lot, so I’m hoping they do good ‘cause I’m an SU fan,” said Dave Argus.
SU band member Ross Hecht said, “I’m having high hopes. We had a real good game, we’re coming off a bunch of losses and hopefully this just kinda put us in, like get us in a zone to start the wins.”
Gametime between Pittsburgh and Syracuse is set for 2 p.m. Thursday.
